A new development for Imma & Mario’s Mercato in Campbelltown, Adelaide, is our wine cellar. ‘La Cantina’, features Italian wines of regionality and authenticity from small family growers known for their care in vineyard and winery. Much of the range is exclusively imported by Mercato, a family business with over 40 years of both servicing South Australia’s Italians and in introducing the Italian taste to a wider audience.

Sure we sell wine, but our business is really hospitality; and the one real essential in doing this right, is having the right people doing it!
La Cantina is a natural progression from of our Italian grocery, Il Mercato, a family business based in Adelaide’s suburban ‘Italian Quarter’ for decades. People remark on what a wonderful sight it all is upfront, being a (rather large) shop bursting with Italian made or inspired food and accessories – while outback is driven and supported by motivated, professional people. They say it feels just like an… Italian supermercato.

Imma and Mario Caporaso established a humble continental deli in 1972 on St Bernards Rd, Rostrevor. With two young children Angela and John, they were committed to building a business based on friendly, personalised service and a range of quality produce. They have successfully traded on these core strengths for over 37 years, in a succession of six stores throughout the local area.
