Some think this version by Clelia Romano, from a series of small vineyards in the Avellino Hills, is the best, always receiving, for example, Tre Bicchieri. Hers are certainly leaders of this, and Campania‘s other main variety, Aglianico Just 300 dozen of this benchmark Taurasi are produced here. A deep red with rich and mellowing characters of redcurrant and maraschino cherry, earth, mushroom and pepper. Layers of complexities sit over a remarkably lively palate – characteristic of these high vineyards. Released with a little extra age, it’s a benchmark for Aglianico. |
